Officially, our first day of work had begun. We got
up early, had breakfast and were raring to go. After a prayer meet, we were
told about the history of Amhi Amchya Arogyasathi.
Though we were taught about Micro planning, we were suddenly
asked to work on Biodiversity report. All of us were unaware about what exactly
it was. The information given about it was pretty vague but Dr. Satish assured
us that after we would read its format, we would get a clear picture about it. We
were given specific villages, group one (my group) were going to Navargaon and
group 2 were going to Chichiwadi.
Later at around 2, the girls were given results of
previous surveys on both the villages. After studying the documents, I found a
few disparities in the data. Also, the subheads were difficult to understand
since they were in Marathi.
In the evening we explored Khurkheda market, which
was, again, surprisingly better than Tuljapur. One of the chemists even gave a
printed bill for Glucon D, something that I had never seen in Mumbai!
The town was preparing for Navratri and a lot of
migrants had set up tents around the market area. We roamed around for a bit
and I came across a new type of tobacco, Kharra, which was very popular in this
area. After enjoying some Basundi, we returned to the NGO to finish packing.
